About Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE)

Founded in 1917, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics（SUFE） was the first modern institution of higher education focusing on economics and management in China, and has gone through a glorious journey of more than one hundred years.

Since its establishment, a global perspective has been part of SUFE’s cultural DNA. From the very beginning, the majority of SUFE’s first faculty members graduated from world leading universities. These scholars made SUFE the forerunner in introducing cutting-edge knowledge in the above fields to China and taking on boundary pushing challenges. Their efforts shaped SUFE’s defining global perspective that still runs deep in today’s Sufers.

After generations of unremitting efforts, SUFE has become a prominent multi-disciplinary university focusing on economics and management, with a balanced development of programs in humanities, engineering, science and law. In 2017, the university was selected as one of the first batch of universities for the “Double First-Class” construction initiative. In 2022, it was also included in the second batch of universities for the “Double First-Class” construction initiative. Currently, the university has 24 national-level first-class undergraduate program development points and 25 national-level first-class undergraduate courses. In global rankings by leading academic discipline organizations, SUFE’s fields such as Accounting, Finance, Economics and MBA consistently rank at the top internationally. As a leading institution of business education and research in China, SUFE obtained the “Triple Crown” international accreditations of AACSB，AMBA，EQUIS.

Currently, the university has nearly 20,000 students in various categories, with undergraduate and graduate enrollments roughly balanced. At its peak, there were over a thousand international students on campus. Regarding the faculty structure, the proportion of teachers with senior titles achieved 67%, teachers with doctoral degrees was nearly 93%, and teachers with overseas doctoral degrees marked 32.7% by the end of 2017.

On May 9th 2019, Clarivate Analytics released the latest data of ESI (Essential Science Indicators). Economics & Business and Social Sciences, General, of SUFE reached the top 1% for the first time, which marks the early realization of phased of the double-first-class discipline construction in 2020. It is a milestone in the history of SUFE discipline construction and a good beginning for SUFE to achieve the overall double-first-class discipline construction.

About International Education College of SUFE (IECSUFE)

International Education College (IEC) of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE) was founded in 2004. In Shanghai it was the first public college specializing in providing training and service to students aiming to study abroad. It is the first strategic partner of CSCSE (Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange, MOE) in East China.
