The International Education College (IEC) is a directly affiliated institution of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE). Established in 2004, it was among the first public institutions in China—and the first in Shanghai—dedicated to international study programs. Under the guidance of national education authorities and SUFE, the school offers a range of transnational education programs, including preparatory courses, credit exemption programs, diploma programs, and pre-departure training. These programs follow various study models, such as undergraduate 1+3, 2+2, and 3+1, as well as master’s pathways like 0.5+1 and 1+1, providing students with high-quality, standardized, and cost-effective international education and training services.
IEC also serves as an authorized test center for a wide range of international exams, including IELTS, IELTS UKVI, iBT TOEFL, ACCA, LSAT, GRE, Japanese Language Proficiency Tests, Cambridge Business English, and Business Japanese, making it the most comprehensive overseas examination center in Shanghai. Leveraging its strengths in finance and international education, the school also offers executive development programs (EDP) and management consulting services for government agencies, military organizations, and enterprises.
Over the past decade, IEC has earned widespread recognition from international academic partners, educational authorities, and the broader community for its academic excellence, rigorous teaching standards, and professional services. Since the graduation of its first cohort in 2006, the school has trained nearly 8,000 students, with an impressive 95% study abroad rate. Around 70% of graduates pursue further education after earning their bachelor’s degrees from partner institutions. Each year, approximately 500 new students enroll, consistently ranking among the top in national entrance exam English scores for similar institutions.
IEC’s success is supported by its distinguished faculty, including accomplished overseas returnees such as Zhang Hong, Zhang Wei, Kevin, Amine, and Zhang Liguang, as well as dedicated student service professionals like Ye Ting and Zhang Yan. With five authoritative accreditations and a strong academic and administrative team, the school is committed to cultivating globally competitive talent.
Graduates of IEC have gone on to contribute to national economic development and various industries. They have secured positions at leading firms, including the “Big Four” accounting firms (Deloitte, PwC, etc.), international banks (Citibank, HSBC, Hang Seng Bank), multinational corporations (Apple China, Philips, Nestlé), state-owned securities firms (Guotai Junan, Everbright Securities, CITIC Securities), and top private enterprises (New Oriental, Huawei, Tencent). Some alumni have successfully joined government agencies such as provincial public security departments, municipal development commissions, and national television networks, while others have pursued entrepreneurial ventures, driving growth in both family businesses and national industries.
