On the morning of October 20, the establishment ceremony of the SUFE International Education College Alumni Association Branch was held at the International Conference Center of the SUFE National University Science Park. The event was attended by Xu Tao, Chairperson of University Council; Liu Liya, Vice President of SUFE and Vice Chair of the Alumni Association; Chen Hongmei, Director of the University Development and Cooperation Office; Yang Qingyu, Deputy Director of the University Development and Cooperation Office; Ma Ji, Deputy Director of the Party Committee and President’s Office; Shen Hui, Dean of the International Education College; Lin Hua, Chairman of the College Council; Deng Xiao, General Manager of the SUFE National University Science Park; as well as representatives of alumni associations from other colleges and retired faculty members of the college. Nearly 150 alumni from around the world participated in the event through a combination of online and offline formats. The meeting was chaired by Dean Shen Hui.
Ji Shangyin, a representative of the Alumni Association Preparatory Group, delivered the Preparatory Work Report of the SUFE International Education College Alumni Association Branch. Director Chen Hongmei read out the Approval for the Establishment of the SUFE International Education College Alumni Association Branch. During the meeting, attendees voted to approve the Rules of Procedure (Draft) for the SUFE International Education College Alumni Association Branch, the Proposed List of Members for the First Council of the SUFE International Education College Alumni Association Branch, and the Proposed List of Key Officers for the First Council. Subsequently, the first council members and key officers were elected. Zai Chengfeng was elected as President, while Chen Jinhan, Guo Junda, Gu Zhijie, Ji Ping, Ji Shangyin, Liao Jiakai, Niu Xi, Sun Yinjun, Wang Yuntuo, Zheng Yizhi, and Zhuang Yu were elected as Vice Presidents. Ji Shangyin also assumed the role of Secretary-General, with Hu Yangyang and Wang Shengkai elected as Deputy Secretary-Generals.
Lin Hua, Chairman of the College Council presented appointment certificates to the inaugural council members of the International Education College Alumni Association Branch.
Vice President Liu Liya presented the flag to the International Education College Alumni Association Branch.
Alumni Zai Chengfeng delivered a speech on behalf of the association. As the president of the branch, he expressed his commitment to fulfilling the expectations of his alma mater. Under the guidance of the alumni association, he pledged to leverage the council's influence, strengthen alumni connections, and contribute to the development of both the alumni and the university.
During the conference, the college leadership and alumni jointly launched the Global Alumni Lighting Ceremony and the establishment of the 20th Anniversary Development Fund for the college. These initiatives aim to further inspire a sense of belonging and responsibility among alumni, driving the future development of the college together.
Chen Jianhong, Secretary-General of the Zhejiang Representative Office, and Wu Yongmei, Secretary-General of the Alumni Association of the School of Public Economics and Management, delivered speeches as representatives of sibling alumni associations. They extended their congratulations on the establishment of the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE) International Education College Alumni Association Branch. They also expressed their hope to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in the future, creating a new chapter in the development of alumni initiatives. Many sibling alumni associations sent congratulatory letters and gifts to the conference, celebrating the successful establishment of the SUFE International Education College Alumni Association Branch.
Finally, Secretary Xu Tao delivered a concluding speech. He warmly welcomed the arrival of alumni from home and abroad, highly praised the educational achievements of the IEC SUFE over the past 2 decades, and put forward three hopes for the IEC Alumni Association Branch. The first one is to strengthen the alumni linkage, and use the association branch to make extensive connection, build bridges for mutual assistance among IEC alumni, and continuously strengthen the global alumni force. The second is to leverage the advantages of IEC to assist the IEC’s development. IEC should coordinate alumni resources at home and abroad, improve the construction of alumni international networks, build a starting point for college enterprise cooperation, and help the overseas alumni work of the alma mater create a new situation. Third, on the basis of serving social development, IEC should vigorously carry forward the tradition of studying abroad to serve the country, constantly strengthen the ideological guidance of students studying abroad, contributing to Chinese modernization with the youth power.
After the meeting, all attendees took a group photo as a souvenir.
In the afternoon, alumni and their families went back to the campus to participate in the Back to College Day event. The rich and colorful activities such as memory wall check-in, Touhu game, bookmark making, music and dance performances, board game competitions, college history Q&A, and friendly ball matches etc., all these activities not only light up the memories of alumni's youth and bring them closer to each other, but also build a bridge of communication between alumni and current students.
On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the IEC SUFE Alumni Association Branch, the successful holding of this conference not only marks the official establishment of the alumni association, but also opens a new chapter of cooperation and win-win between alumni and the IEC. Moreover, the IEC will also take the establishment of the alumni association as an opportunity to further strengthen the mutual interaction, deeply tap alumni resources, give full play to the positive role of alumni, and write a new footnote for SUFE. The IEC will continue to write a new chapter of serving the country and the people in the vivid practice of comprehensively promoting the national rejuvenation with Chinese path to modernization!
